VIVIAN BOUL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship serves to provide opportunities for African American students pursuing education at the Washington School of Psychiatry in the Child and Adolescent program.

Vivian Boul was a psychotherapist and teacher who worked in Washington DC for many decades.

Born in Brooklyn in 1926, she moved to DC in 1951 where she first worked for the Children’s Home Society of Virginia and later the Jewish Social Service Agency.

In 1966, Mrs. Boul joined the psychology department at Catholic University where she established and directed a therapeutic nursery school that functioned as an outpatient child guidance clinic. The program served as a practicum for graduate students in the university’s clinical doctoral program.

In 1990, she joined the staff of the Washington School of Psychiatry in the Child and Adolescent Training Program.

She had a private practice for children and adults from 1976 until she retired in 2009. She has two children, Nina Rasch a special education teacher, and David Boul, a television producer.
